The Honorable William Raggio, Chairman
Senate Finance Committee
Nevada Legislature
Carson City, NV 89710

Dear Senator Raggio:

We are writing to inform you and the members of the Finance committee of our strong support for SB 206. This bill implements the public portion of the public-private partnership that was the outcome of Governor Guinn's summit on nuclear waste that he convened last February. Providing state funding for this effort is essential, if we are to be successful in raising private funds to initiate a national education program aimed at heading off legislation in Congress that would authorize an interim storage facility in southern Nevada for nuclear waste and to help us in our effort to stop Yucca Mountain.

Your support for this legislation would clearly demonstrate the Nevada Legislature's commitment to fighting the interim storage proposal and Yucca Mountain, and send a strong signal to those in the Congress and the nuclear industry that Nevada is serious about keeping nuclear waste out of our state. We urge your support for this bill and look forard to working with you and the members of the Legislature in this very important struggstruggle
