LETTERS: Nuke power
To the editor:
California blackouts have brought the electricity shortages into the national spotlight. More electrical power is required for the future as well as the present. Advocates of nuclear generators to produce this electricity tell us it is an environmentally clean method. Little or no mention is made of the nuclear waste it produces.
A regulation should mandate that any nuclear generator power plant be required to dispose of the nuclear waste it produces within the state where it is located. No new nuclear plant should be considered until technology can provide this method of disposal.
Nevada cannot be the nation's nuclear outhouse.
