Too many people have died from cancer; plant should close

EDITOR: What will it take to convince western Kentuckians that the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant needs to be shut down? Haven't enough people in this area died of cancer caused by government officials interested in learning the effects of radiation?

I am amazed at the naivety of western Kentuckians. Not only do they believe everything the government tells them, but they also demonstrate a fanatical allegiance to it. Never mind that the government lied about the dangers of radiation, contaminated their environment and dumped nuclear waste in their backyards. They will continue voting for politicians from the same two-party system responsible for it all.

Only a fool would think that government is going to make up for its mistakes. It's time people in this area wake up.
