DOE gives Flats new manager Mazurowski now director of a former nuclear processing plant
Colorado Daily Staff Report
The U.S. Department of Energy has named the director of a former nuclear reprocessing plant in New York as the new operations manager for Rocky Flats, the former nuclear-weapons plant south of Boulder.
Secretary of Energy Bill Richardson announced Monday that the new manager will be Barbara A. Mazurowski, currently in charge of cleanup efforts at the West Valley Demonstration Project in upstate New York.
Mazurowski will replace former manager Jessie Roberson, who left Rocky Flats last year to join the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board in Washington, D.C.
Mazurowski has a bachelor's degree in industrial technology from the State University of New York-Buffalo and a master's degree in business from Bonaventure University. Before joining the DOE in 1991, she worked for the Department of Defense.
Tom Welch, a spokesman for the DOE in Washington, D.C., said he wasn't sure when Mazurowski will start her new job.
