Governor Orders Rocketdyne Probe
May 04, 1999
(LOS ANGELES) -- A published report says Governor Gray Davis has ordered an investigation into whether state health officials helped suppress a cancer rate study at the Santa Susana Field Lab. The ``Los Angeles Times'' says Davis informed state assemblywoman Sheila Kuehl that he had directed state E-P-A chief Winston Hickox to look into whether state officials had worked with Rocketdyne to suppress the study... showing elevated lung cancer rates in the neighborhood surrounding the field lab where ten nuclear reactors were run from the 50's to the 80's. It was Kuehl who released the internal documents last month, which she says shows collusion between health officials and Boeing's Rocketdyne division.
