Proposed Dump Looking For New Home
Monday, December 14, 1998
A low-level nuclear waste dump proposed for near Sierra Blanca may be only a memory. The Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission has let a deadline pass to act on a motion to reconsider the site. That means the original ruling denying a permit for the West Texas location stands. The issue could end up in the courts or be introduced in the form of a new bill before the next session of the legislature. Lawmakers convene in Austin next month.
