U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission to Hold
Public Meeting on Proposed Regulations
for a Proposed Geologic Repository
Wednesday, June 16, 7:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.

The U.S, Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) will hold another public meeting on its proposed regulations for the licensing of a possible future high-level radioactive waste repositry at Yucca Mountain. Recently the NRC extended the time for public comment through the end of June.

In Las Vegas, the meeting will be at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in the Richard Tam Alumni Center, 4505 Maryland Parkway at the corner of Harmon Avenue.

Interested persons are invited to attend, hear NRC views on concerns raised at past public meetings, and submit their comments or ask questions on the proposed regulations. The NRC especially wishes to address concerns related to its role in assuring safety, how its regulations would protect the public, and the regulation of transportation of radioactive waste.

Copies of the proposed rule are available via an NRC Internet web site at or from Judy Goodwin, Division of Waste Management, Mail Stop T-7F3, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Washington, DC 20555-0001. Copies will also be available at the meeting,
