U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission to Hold
Public Meeting on Proposed Regulations for a
Proposed Geologic Repository
Tuesday, June 15, 7:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) will hold another public meeting on its proposed regulations for the licensing of a possible future high-level radioactive waste repository at Yucca Mountain. Recently the NRC extended the time for public comment through the end of June.
In Amargosa Valley, the meeting will be in the Amargosa Valley Community Center at 821 East Farm Road.
Interested persons are invited to attend, hear NRC views on concerns raised at past public meetings, and submit their comments or ask questions on the proposed regulations. The NRC especially wishes to address concerns related to its role in assuring safety, how its regulations would protect the public, and the regulation of transportation of radioactive waste.
Copies of the proposed rule are available via an NRC Internet web site at http://www.nrc.gov/NRC/rule.html or from Judy Goodwin. Division of Waste Management, Mail Stop T-7F3 , U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Washington, DC 20555-0001. Copies will also be available at the meeting.
