U.S./Mexico to Disclose Hazardous Sites

U-S and Mexico environmental officials have a new agreement that requires the two nations to tell each other about hazardous or radioactive waste sites close to the border. The agreement was prompted by a proposal that has since been dropped. It called for the state to build a permanent storage facility for low-level nuclear waste in west Texas, just a few miles north of the Rio Grande. The new agreement calls for notification of any sites within 100 kilometers of the border.
