(IDAHO FALLS) -- The Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Lab is sending another nuclear waste shipment to New Mexico but the prime contractor has been fined for using faulty waste containers. The Department of Energy fined Lockheed Martin 220-thousand dollars for violating safety procedures by using containers with faulty welds. Those containers were not used in last April's shipment of plutonium contaminated waste to New Mexico or today's shipment. Lockheed is about to turn over INEEL operations to a new contractor, Bechtel B-and-W.
