NOTICE OF ENFORCEMENT CONFERENCE - SAVANNAH RIVER SITE,
SAVANNAH RIVER OPERATIONS OFFICE

On 2/16/99 Westinghouse Savannah River Company received a Notice of
Enforcement Conference from the Water Pollution Enforcement Section of
South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Compliance (DHEC).

The letter identifies 18 issues where DHEC alleges that Savannah River
Site (SRS) failed to meet standards or requirements associated with
National Pollution Discharge and Elimination Standards (NPDES) Permit.

The issues potentially impact multiple organizations across the site and
are a collection of occurrences and environmental issues spanning the
years 1997 and 1998. The letter also notifies SRS that an enforcement
conference has been scheduled for March 1, 1999.

At present, the majority of the alleged violations have been corrected
but several are still under investigation due to the sporadic and/or
unknown nature of the exceedance. (Occurrence Report number
